Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance to realign three sections of Highway 137.
This project will relocate the existing roadway further inland to prevent future
damage from high seas. FEMA funds will be 75% of the project or $1.5 million.

A. REQUEST:
Amendment to Ordinance 99-71 to add the Realignment of Portions of
Highway 137 project. Work to include the realignment of three sections
of Highway 137. Estimated cost for design, right-of-way and
construction is $2,000,000.00. The Federal share is $1,500,000.00 and
the County share is $500,000.00. Request appropriation of both amounts.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved the design,
right-of-way and construction of the Realignment of Portions of Highway
137 project. Federal funding will be for 75~ of the project cost.
County funding to come from the Geothermal asset fund, CIP fund balance
or bond float.
