Re: Agreement with the United States Department of the Interior,National Parks Service
• Enclosed is a resolution to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the United States
Department of the Interior,National Parks Service to provide mutual assistance for emergency
incidents on land administered by the National Park Service on the Island of Hawai`i.
Emergency incidents are identified as those situations including, but not limited to, fires, medical
emergencies and emergency rescues.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the National Park Service.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The County of Hawaii and the National Park Service wish to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding
(MOU) to provide personal services, equipment, and facilities required for the protection of life and property
during emergency incidents on land administered by the National Park Service on the Island of Hawaii and
the Hawaii Fire Department through the County of Hawaii. Emergency incidents are defined as those
situations including, but not limited to, fire, medical emergencies, and emergency rescue situations.
