RESOLUTION NO. 654 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA
PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION FOR ITS EMERGENCY "GRAB AND GO"
COMMUNITY FEEDING PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that is dedicated to preserving the character and history of Waimea and encouraging community
awareness; and
WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic, the
Waimea Preservation Association has established an emergency "Grab and Go" community
feeding program for the vulnerable populations in Waimea and Waikoloa; and
WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association is collaborating with local certified
restaurants to provide the prepared food for its "Grab and Go" community feeding program; and
WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association is requesting funds for expenses
related to its "Grab and Go" community feeding program, including food purchases and supplies
required for meal preparation, serving, distribution, and cleanup; and
WHEREAS, this project falls within the Department of Research and Development's
mission to enhance the standard of living of the residents and economic viability of business in
Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to the Waimea Preservation Association for its
emergency "Grab and Go" community feeding program; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transferred/appropriated the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
