Aloha Council members,
My name is Diane Ware and I live in Volcano. I support raising taxes on non primary residence luxury homes over 1
million rather than 2 million. These properties raise appraisals and taxes for low income people leading to greater
inequality and hardship for many residents.
Please revise Bill 169 to allow higher tax rates, as O'ahu does, for properties not used as primary residences, and worth
over$1 million. Bill 169 now says "$2 million".
Something is very wrong when our island has so many luxury second homes, but more and more people are becoming
homeless, chased from place to place without time to even gather their meager possessions. Let's build really affordable
housing.
