RESOLUTION NO. 6f 0 20
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT
AWARD OF $2,000 FROM THE UNITED STATES TENNIS
ASSOCIATION TO ASSIST WITH THE REOPENING OF
FACILITIES AFTER COVID-19
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has been selected to receive a $2,000
grant award from the United States Tennis Association; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to defray some of the expenses
associated with the reopening of tennis courts at the Ho`olulu Complex after the
COVID-19 closures; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be used towards cleaning and sanitation
measures, tennis supplies and other tennis-related reopening expenses; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations
of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in
real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County
Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property
which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may
be accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the
acceptance of this grant award; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the
Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this grant award.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of
Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the
Finance Department, and to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
