SUBJECT: Request for update from Recovery Team
By means of this communication I am requesting a 15 minute update followed by a 30 minute discussion
with the Hawaii County Recovery Team regarding progress made towards achieving priorities listed in
the Kilauea Eruption Interim Recovery Strategy, including:
Community Engagement and Decision-Making: Collaborating with Recovery Task Force
Case Management:Neighborhood Place of Puna's efforts to assist impacted households
Reconstruct Infrastructure: Decision to restore lava inundated roads, specifically Lighthouse Road,
Leilani Avenue, and Highway 137, and timeline for restoration of Pohoiki Road
Federally-Funded Actions: Development of CDBG-DR Action Plan, and Federal award for County Parks
&Recreation 428 submittal
Comprehensive Recovery Plans: Work products developed by Tetra Tech and the Institute for Sustainable
Development
Funding Opportunities: Process to apply for Bill 146 monies, and the Puna Strong Grants Program
Please place this matter on the June 16 or June 17 convening of the Committee on Governmental
Relations and Economic Development.
