RESOLUTION NO. 676 20
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SLATE OF OFFICERS FOR THE HAWAII
STATE ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND
APPROVING THE NOMINATION OF MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND THE WESTERN
INTERSTATE REGION BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i County is a member of the Hawaii State Association of Counties
(HSAC), the National Association of Counties (NACo), and the Western Interstate Region
(WIR); and
WHEREAS, the HSAC Executive Committee on June 1, 2020, approved a slate of
executive committee members and nominees for the NACo Board of Directors and the WIR
Board of Directors for the respective terms beginning July 1, 2020; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the HSAC Bylaws, prior to the HSAC annual meeting
in June 2020, "each council after receipt of the slate shall take action deemed necessary to
approve the slate at the annual meeting; provided that no council shall take any action requesting
or requiring removal from the slate of an appointee from another council"; and
WHEREAS, HSAC Bylaws state that Council approval is required to approve
nomination of representatives to the NACo Board of Directors and the WIR Board of Directors;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
Hawai`i State Association of Counties Executive Committee members and alternates are
approved as follows for the term beginning July 1, 2020:
President: Joey Manahan; alternate Brandon Elefante
Vice President: Ross Kagawa; alternate Mason Chock
Secretary: Ashley L. Kierkiewicz; alternate Rebecca Villegas
Treasurer: Kelly T. King; alternate Tamara Paltin
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that KipuKai Kuali`i and Ikaika Anderson are
approved to serve on the NACo Board of Directors for the term beginning July 1, 2020.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Herbert M. "Tim" Richards and Kelly T. King are
approved to serve on the WIR Board of Directors for the term beginning July 1, 2020.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the President and the Secretary of the Hawai`i State Association of Counties.
