Aloha Members of the County Council,
I would like to support Valerie T. Poindexter who proposed an amendment to increase the Fund Balance from Previous
Year account by$10,000, and increase the Committee on the Status of Women expense account by the same amount.
We need to add back$10,000 for the Committee on the Status of Women so they can continue annual projects like
these listed below. County Council Valerie Poindexter is sponsoring this measure because she cares and she knows the
impact.
Annual projects supported by CSW are:
—Family Services Directory-updating and printing
—Healthy Relationships Teen cell phone cards(Teen Dating Violence Prevention)-printing
—Real Women Essay Contest-event luncheon, booklet of winning essays,and prizes
—Equal Pay radio campaign- PSA
—Hawai'i Island Women's Leadership Summit- planning and financial support
