Good Morning Chair Chung and Council Members, Date— JUN 0 3 1 2020
My name is Kami Bolster and I am writing my testimony for support of Communication 744.12
introduced by Council woman Poindexter. I am new to the island having moved here in 2016 and live in
Waikoloa Village. I have served on the Hawaii Community Caregiver Network board from 2016 to 2019
and I was the chair person for the 2017 Kona walk to end Alzheimer's. I am a case manager with
Services for Seniors and work directly with the Hawaii County office of aging.
I was introduced to the committee on the status of women by Cyd Hoffeld when she invited me to
attend the Real Women Creative Writing essay competition ceremony. I was so impressed with the
essays,students reading them and the other CSW members. I had to find out more about this
committee and how I can become a part of it.
I applied to become a member and in 2018 my 4 year term began. This committee does so many
worthwhile activities that benefit our community and I am proud to involved. The women of Hawaii
deserve to be represented and this committee focuses on the wellbeing of women. Along with the
creative writing competition,they also research and distribute a family services directory which has all
the names and phone numbers for every type of social service on the island. They also have created and
distributed the healthy relationships cell phone safety card for the island teens so they understand the
boundaries of personal relationships and when an action is"not OK".
I could go on and on about the many good things this committee does for our community but I will stop
for now and pray you will support the passing of Communication 774.12 so the CSW can continue
serving our island.
