Mr. Hunt confirmed that the County has not received any CARES Act funding that could be
advanced.
A loan is a loan, no matter how you look at it, Mr. Kaneali'i-Kleinfelder said. Businesses need
funds to continue operations and his job as a Council Member is to uphold community and urge
the Administration to do what is right and what the community feels is right.
Mr. Hunt said the intent is to administer grants, not loans, so it is consistent with the resolution.
Grants would probably be made as a reimbursement for expenses.
Committee Member Valerie Poindexter spoke in support of the resolution. This "strong urge"
makes clear the Council's position that small businesses need help, and this is the way to go with
the micro-grants.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 666-20, and
recommends its adoption.
