Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, which
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of
money; securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and with(2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (b), of the Hawai`i County Code, which
states that a gift or donation of money, securities, or personal property not covered by the
capitalization procedures (of the Department of Finance) shall be submitted to the
Council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the following
donation:
3,500 surgical masks valued at$525. This donation from the Director General
Michael Tseng of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Honolulu (the de facto
Consulate-General of Taiwan)will be used in the fight against COVID-19.

appreciation to the Director General

Consulate-General of Taiwan) upon Council's acceptance. If there are any questions,

A. REQUEST:
The Office of the Mayor would like to request a letter to be drafted by the Department of Finance to the
Hawaii County Council to accept a donation from the Director General Michael Tseng of the Taipei Economic
and Cultural Office in Honolulu (the de facto Consulate-General of Taiwan).. The donation is for 3,500 pieces
of surgical masks (ASTM F2100 Level 1 Barrier) donated by the Taiwan Government and was received on
June 3, 2020. According to their Division,Director James Huang, the cost for the masks were $0.15 each,
thus the total value is $525. The Mayor's Office will send a letter of appreciation once accepted.
