Members Present: (Chair) Patricia Walters, Linda Gonzales, Sam Nagasawa, Laura Tobosa, Susan Shirachi Members Excused; Heather Dansdill, Penny Alcoran, Byron Yogi, Laina Torres. County Staff Present: Malia Hall (Deputy Corporation Council) Members Absent: Christina Parke Guests Present: Pam Cabrera (Hawaii Disability Rights) Topic/Agenda Item Discussion Action Chair Patricia Walters asked everyone to The Committee members introduce themselves. acknowledged their presence. Review/Approve Approval of the January 16, 2019 Meeting Approval of the January 16"' Minutes Minutes meeting minutes, moved by Committee member Laura Tobosa and seconded by Committee member Sam Nagasawa. An Area Agency on Aging Approval of the February 20, 2019 Meeting Minutes Approval of the February 20"' meeting minutes, moved by Committee member Susan Shirachi and seconded by Committee member Linda Gonzales 4. Pam Cabrera of Hawaii Disability Pam gave her presentation to the Rights in attendance from Honolulu Office. Committee. She explained that she is the advocate for the Island of Hawaii and her focus is any legality issues regarding Housing, and voting. They help educate their clients with disabilities how to vote. Pam helps with Advanced Health Care directives and emergency preparedness on the Big Island for people with disabilities. b. Sub Committee Reports Committee member Susan Shirachi reported that she met with Denise Oguma from HOPE Services regarding affordable rental housing and ABLE Accounts. (See attachments) Committee Member Linda Gonzales reported on illegal parking. She would like to reach out to Torey Keltner because some officers are not aware of the proper enforcement training. Letters to fortify our actions from this Committee Member Gonzales Committee and to report it to the Mayor on introduced the idea of putting a monthly basis. together a letter every month advising the Mayor of areas of concerns. Ms. Gonzales suggested that at the end of future agendas, the Committee vote on 3 items to advise the Mayor. Committee Member Nagasawa made a motion to write a letter to the Mayor. Chair Walters informed everyone to be aware of the future meeting dates. They do not always fall on the same day each month. a. Tentative Guest Speakers Chair Walters informed the Committee that Committee member Pam Punihaole will arrange to have a speaker from the Disabled American Veterans group attend our next meeting in April.
