Members Present: (Chair) Patricia Walters, Penny Alcoran, Pamela Punihaole, Linda Gonzales, Sam Nagasawa Laura Tobosa, Members Excused;, Laina Torres, Susan Shirachi. County Staff. Malia Hall (Deputy Corporation Council), Julie Rawlins (ADA Coordinator) Members Absent: Christina Parke, Byron Yogi Guests Present: Jesse Floyd (DD Council) Topic/Agenda Item Discussion Action 2. Chair Walters mentioned that she is still waiting to hear back from County Housing on the status of people displaced by the lava flow. a. Letter to advise Mayor Harry Kim on Committee member Nagasawa Committee results and suggestions. mentioned that Emergency Responders would be the ones to contact instead of the County Housing. 6. Jesse Floyd suggested contacting Paul Norman from Neighborhood Place for Puna. Malia Hall suggested Sharon Hirota would be a good person for information. Brenda Carrera (Mass Transit Director), Pauline Aughe, Debbie Jackson, and Mari Horike were names suggested by the Committee. Chair Walters stressed to the Committee, how people with disabilities need to have their medical equipment, their wheelchairs, etc. She also mentioned that training first responders is very important. An Area Agency on Aging Committee member Nagasawa mentioned that Civil Defense Director Talmadge had a special evacuation team to help individuals with disabilities. 7. Announcements Jesse Floyd mentioned about the reverse job fair (anyone with a disability, looking for a job) Put on by the American Job Center. Committee Member Penny Alcoran mentioned that she is looking for 2 more particpants for the Carrigan Foundation Class. Under the Arc of Kona this program gets anyone with a disability job ready by dealing with the hotel industry. Vox Populi (Voice of No one from the public attended the People) this meeting.
