Dear Ms. Ryskamp:
Thank you for your letter of April 2, 2019, regarding the pavilion at Mahukona,
and I apologize for the delay in responding.
It's always heartening to hear about a community that works with the County to
nurture and care for park facilities. The Department of Parks and Recreation (P&R)
informed me that the pavilion was closed due to safety concerns brought on by the age
of the facility.
P&R does have plans to rebuild the pavilion, and to make it compliant with the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, as they understand the significant
impact this closure has had on the local community.
For updates and any other information you may require, please contact P&R at
(808) 961-8311.
In the meantime, thank you very much for taking the time to write to me as a
concerned resident.
Aloha, U
f
Harry
