Dear Liam & Chloe,
RE: Carvalho Park
Thank you for your letter inquiring into the status of repairs at the Gilbert
Carvalho Park playground. Since the park was damaged during Hurricane Lane, the
Department of Parks and Recreation (P&R) was required to submit plans for repairs to
the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Once those plans were
approved, P&R solicited bids for the work that needed to be done.
After speaking with P&R, I do have some good news to share. The contract for
the repairs has been completed and work on the playground equipment began on May
28, 2019. Soon, the lower Kaumana neighborhood will have use of the playground
again.
