In that letter, allegedly to preserve the religious temple and the iwi kupuna at La'aloa Beach Park, you requested the County of Hawai'i ("County") permit you, uncle Abel Simeona Lui, and other members of the La'aloa ohana to remain at La'aloa Beach Park between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. In addition, you offered to "provid[e] 24 hour a day security" at La'aloa Beach Park. Lastly, you asked for a key to the gate on the southern end of the parking lot. On behalf of the County, I decline your offer to provide security at the park. You, Mr. Lui and members of the ohana are not allowed to remain with the park after the park's posted hours. Neither will you, Mr. Lui nor will members of the ohana be provided a key to the gate. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, ` HARRY KIM Mayor, County of Hawaii c: Joe Kamelamela, Corporation Counsel Roxcie Waltjen, Parks & Recreation County of Hawaii is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer.
