Dear Mr. Mills,
Thank you for your June 6, 2019, letter expressing concern about the condition of Waipi'o
Valley Road.
You will be pleased to learn that the County of Hawai'i Department of Public Works Highways
Division began to perform general maintenance on Waipi'o Valley Road on Wednesday, June 19,
2019, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Waipi'o Valley Road will be closed while maintenance work is conducted. In addition to road
improvements, general maintenance work will include tree trimming and weed eating on the hillside,
as well as repairing pot holes on Waipi'o Valley Road within the valley.
Signs will be posted advising motorists of the road closure. Waipi'o Valley Road will be open to
local traffic only (residents and farmers) during this time.
The County of Hawaii Department of Public Works apologizes for any inconvenience this may
cause and thanks you and the rest of the community for their patience and understanding.
