Call to Order: (Chair) Patricia Walters called the meeting to start at 9:55 am.
Members Present: (Chair) Patricia Walters Susan Shirachi, Pamela Punihaole, Sam Nagasawa, Laura Tobosa,

5. New Business A. Nominations and Election of Committee Chair Walters informed the
Officers Committee that June is when

will be held at the next meeting.
B. Discussion on creating Two Mayor's Sam Nagasawa explained that it
Committees on People with Disabilities. would be easier and more feasible
West Hawaii and East Hawaii to have 2 Committees one on the
East Side and one on the West
Side. She also stressed that you
spend the whole day travelling if
the meeting is held on the other
side of the Island. She felt this
would increase participation and
audience as well.

Malia Hall informed the
Committee that before voting on
the motion, that the Committee
needs to inform the Mayor.
Before any action can be taken to
create another committee it must
be approved by the Mayor.
The Committee decided to draft a
letter to the Mayor with that
suggestion.
Punihaole made a motion to make
a recommendation the Mayor
about splitting the Committee into
East side and West side of the
Island.
Nagasawa seconded the motion.
There were 2 nay, 3 yea and 1
neutral.
The motion failed.
Discussion and voting were
tabled till the next meeting.
