I urge you to add language to CA -18 permitting compensation to officers, board members, and employees
of 501(c)3's involved PONC maintenance. You are well aware that any group so tasked has already been
approved in a stewardship grant process that ensures their dependability. The pool of volunteers has
steadily declined over the years, and it is clear that in order to secure workers for what is often very
challenging physical labor, payment is needed. More often than not, officers and board members work
alongside the 501(c)3 employees.
With the County Council's unanimous vote to send this amendment back to you, you should now feel that
other eyes have seen a real need for such compensation. It would create a very confusing ballot to have
two proposals dealing with the same matter.
Please cast your vote to strengthen the land fund by adding the proposed language to CA -18.
