SUBJECT: WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA)
PROGRAM MEMBERSHIP TO THE HAWAII COUNTY WORKFORCE
DEVELOPMENT BOARD (WDB)
Dear Ms. Guardascione:
I am pleased to inform you that the County of Hawai'i Office of Management, in
partnership with the Hawai'i County Workforce Development Board (HCWDB), hereby
appoints you to a term effective April 1, 2019 and ending on March 31, 2022.
On July 22, 2014, President Obama signed into law (PL 113-128) the Workforce
Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), reauthorizing the expired Workforce Investment
Act (WIA) of 1998. WIOA is designed to provide services to increase employment,
retention and earnings of participants and increase occupational skill attainment by
participants and, as a result, improve the quality of the workforce, reduce welfare
dependency and enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the Nation.
The Hawai'i County Workforce Development Board's (HCWDB) mission is to
promote the development of a highly competent and productive workforce by
coordinating the efforts of educational institutions, labor, business, economic
development organizations, government agencies and the entire community in order to
sustain a strong economy and lifestyle.
Your input and involvement is vital to the successful outcome of our employment
and training system. Your contribution will help shape our economic outlook in Hawai'i
County for years to come.
