WATER SHUT-OFF NOTICE
AFFECTED AREA: KAŪMANA, SOUTH HILO
ALL CUSTOMERS ON CHONG STREET FROM WEST NAAUAO STREET TO LEWANUU STREET,
INCLUDING LAWELAWE CIRCLE AND OTHER CONNECTING SIDE ROADS, INCLUDING
HOKULANI STREET, ʻIʻIWIPOLENA ROAD, TERRACE DRIVE AND ALL OF ITS CONNECTING
SIDE STREETS AND SIDE ROADS, INCLUDING HOKULANI PLACE, KAʻAPUNI LOOP, KAʻAPUNI
PLACE, WAWAI LOOP, WAWAI PLACE, LANI PLACE, TERRACE CIRCLE, PUAMELIA PLACE,
PONI-MOI PLACE, PIKAKE PLACE, PAKALANA STREET, PAKALANA PLACE, KAIKŪʻONO
STREET, KAIKŪʻONO PLACE, HELE MAUNA STREET, HUAPALA PLACE, ILIMA PLACE, AND
KIELE PLACE; KAŪMANA, SOUTH HILO, HAWAIʻI
Water will be temporarily turned off in the above-mentioned area on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, between
the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to do waterline work for the Piʻihonua-Kūkūau Reservoir and Transmission
Improvements Project. The affected areas may experience low to no water pressure during the shut-off period.
Upon the resumption of water service, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time you may
notice turbid and/or discolored water.
You may also notice trapped air in your plumbing, which will be released as you initially use water.
Affected customers are reminded to take any and all precautions necessary to protect the customers’ property and
facilities including, but not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps and/or any other devices whose normal
operation may be dependent on water pressure and/or water supply, and which might be harmed if automatically
energized during the water shutoff.
