Dear Ms. Rego:
Thank you very much for your letter of August 27, 2019, expressing your
concerns regarding the ongoing situation on Mauna Kea.
I share your desire to uphold the rule of law. As I write this I continue to seek a
good resolution to the impasse on the mountain, which would lead to the Mauna Kea
Access Road completely open to all. The resolution that I seek is a peaceful one, which
would work to heal the wounds of the past while accommodating the important work of
science that is so important to our Island.

for our community.
