ROLL CALL PRESENT Jewel Castro, Treasurer Mele Spencer Farrah -Marie Gomes Andrew Langtry Kami Bolster Cyd Hoffeld Diana Mellon -Lacey, EXCUSED Brooke Derby, Chair Lee -Ann Heely, Vice Chair Debra Toledo-Ebreo Mihaela Ryer Corp. Counsel III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Mele motioned to approve agenda. Kami seconded. Motion passed. IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES (April 2, 2019) Andrew motioned to approve meeting minutes of April 2, 2019. Mele seconded. Motion passed. ACTION ITEM: To assist in expediting the review of minutes, Chair to request that the CSW receive minutes prior to the next month's meeting. V. TREASURER'S REPORT A. April financials a. Copies of the April financials were not made available to all members prior to the meeting. b. Grant provided Jewel with $4,698 as the updated balance as of May 8, 2019. B. Vote to request funds from CSW for projects a. Motion by Farrah, seconded by Mele to approve the following expenditures for the remainder of this year: i. $700 for mileage ii. $333 for Equal Pay ads iii. $1,935 for Real Women Essay Contest iv. $500 to Friends of the Future as fiscal sponsor for Hawaii Island Wom- en's Leadership Forum to provide activities throughout the year in support of women's empowerment and leadership. v. $1,000 for gift cards (already purchased but not yet reflected in balance) b. Motion passed. Hawai'i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer VI. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC A. None VII. CORRESPONDENCE A. Lucy Yoes, one of the winners, sent in a thank you note regarding the Real Women Essay Contest. B. Laura Rasgado, teacher of Lucy at HAAS, sent in a thank you note regarding the Real Women Essay Contest. C. Dylan Olson, friend of Lucy and student at HAAS, sent in a thank you note re- garding the Real Women Essay Contest. D. A. Schweitzer sent in a thank you note regarding the Real Women Essay Con- test. VIII. REPORTS A. No update on our NACW Membership Application for 2019 B. NACW's 49th Conference: July 22-24, 2019 in Chicago — no vote needed since no one expressed interest in attending the conference. IX. OLD BUSINESS A. Teen Dating Violence - tabled B. Real Women Essay Contest • The Essay Contest Luncheon on April 28, 2019 was a great success. Two students were unable to attend. One student sent her parents in her place. Timing of the event was well paced. The food and service at Nani Mau were excellent. No update on article for 2019 event. No update on partnering with KNKR 96.1 "Women's Voices" Radio Show to showcase Essay Contest Winners. Reminder for everyone to submit their mileage claims for this event. C. Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum (HIWLF) • HIWLF is hosting a screening of the film "Rise of the Wahine: Champions of Title IX," May 22, 2019, UH Hilo Performing Arts Center, 5:00 p.m. D. CSW Brochure Reviewed most recent draft, send feedback directly to Mihaela. Still need a few more pictures. E. Family Services Directory • No update on printing of 2019 directories from the County. • Need to create new tracking document for 2019 distribution. • Need to decide where the directories will be stored. F. Human Trafficking • HCC is no longer interested in the project, will work with UHH in the next fiscal year. Looking at possible radio announcements or video by January 2020 to coincide with national campaign in collaboration with HSCSW. E G. Equal Pay • Radio ads complete. • Need to follow-up on payments to vendors. X. NEW BUSINESS a. New Programs + New Projects - tabled b. Update CSW Operating Guidelines - tabled c. Review Slate from Nominating Committee for upcoming CSW elections + Vote - tabled d. Discuss collaborating + how to have better communication about events (like the most recent promotion for awareness of International Denim Day as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month) with Zonta, Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim, the County Council and the Prosecuting Attorney's Of- fice — tabled ADJOURNMENT a. The meeting was adjourned at 11:09am. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 19 at NHERC at 10:OOam. 3
