II. ROLL CALL Present— Brooke Derby, chair; Farrah -Marie Gomes; Katherine "Kami" Bolster; Andrew Langtry; Mihaela Ryer; Diana Mellon -Lacey (Office of Corporation Counsel) Excused — Lee -Ann Heely, vice chair; Debra Toledo-Ebreo, recording secretary; Jewel Castro, treasurer; Mele Spencer, corresponding secretary; Cyd Hoffeld, HSCSW Commissioner III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA — Kami motioned and Mihaela seconded to approve the agenda. Motion passed. IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — Kami motioned and Mihaela seconded to approve the meeting minutes from September 19, 2018. Motion passed. V. TREASURER'S REPORT — No report, Jewel not in attendance VI. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC — None VII. CORRESPONDENCE — None VIII. REPORTS— No report from HSCSW, Cyd not in attendance IX. OLD BUSINESS A. Teen Dating Violence • Update on cell phone safety card distribution • Farrah placed 50 cards on the resource table outside the Women's Center and LGBTQ+ Center on the UH Hilo campus. Hawaii County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer • Cell phone safety cards to CSW members for distribution • Farrah provided cards to Kami. • Cards will be at the Summit on Friday for other CSW members. Action Item: Farrah will deliver cards to Andrew B. Real Women Essay Contest Action Item: Farrah will email pictures to all CSW members. Action Item: Sub -committee will meet to provide update at next meeting. Action Item: Brooke to follow-up with Lee -Ann on article. C. Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum • Councilwoman Poindexter's resolution for $1,000 passed on 10/3/18. • Councilwoman Eoff and Councilman Richard's resolutions for $1,000 each are on today's Council agenda. Farrah was late to this meeting because she was in Waimea providing testimony for the two resolutions. • Over 200 people have registered so far. • Summit is two days away! D. CSW Brochure • Update on draft — no update available. Action Item: Farrah will send Brooke copy of the brochure. E. Urgent Services Directory • A copy of the tracking document was provided to all CSW members. • There are no more copies at the Prosecuting Attorney's Office. • Suggestion was made to include Human Trafficking info in next directory. Action Item: Farrah will see if students are available to assist with updating the Family Services Directory. F. Human Trafficking • There was discussion about an Awareness campaign; o have a contest (similar to how we do real women contest) where we ask HS/college students to submit radio ads, video ads, newspaper, social media ads etc, on the topic of human trafficking, how to recognize, report, get help E o take the winners and run radio, newspaper, TV, social media adds for a period of time (a week, two, month) Resources o There is a Honolulu nonprofit - PASS (Pacific Alliance to Stop Slavery). Equal Pay • No update X. NEW BUSINESS — None XI. ANNOUNCEMENTS (relating to CSW) • The Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit is this Friday. • There is also a Domestic Violence Summit at Imiloa happening on Friday. • Next CSW meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 21 in Hilo and Kona via video conference. This is the day before Thanksgiving. XII. ADJOURNMENT —Andrew motioned and Kami seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed and the meeting was adjourned at 11:47am. 3
