MEETING MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER
Chair Brooke Derby called meeting to order at 10:08am.

III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Kami motioned to approve agenda. Jewel seconded. Motion passed.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES (January 30, 2019)
• Kami asked for clarification on page 3 — "Notify winners by May 22nd
and ask for RSVP by first week of April..." Change May 22nd to March
22nd
• Jewel motioned to approve meeting minutes of January 30 with above
amendment. Lee -Ann seconded. Motion passed.
V. TREASURER'S REPORT
A. January financials
Jewel shared January expenditure report.
B. Update on Budget submitted to Grant + follow up from Treasurer
Jewel continues to work with Grant on clarifying the budget process.
VI. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC — None
VII. CORRESPONDENCE — None
REV at 03/13/19 meeting to include attendees Katherine Bolster and Cyd Hoffeld, and to change 'Diane' to 'Diana'
VIII. REPORTS
A. Hawaii State CSW — last meeting was on January 29, 2019. At that time,
Cyd presented full request of $4,500. The commission was only able to
fund partial request of $1,250 for Equal Pay PSAs. They plan to approve
the remainder at their next meeting with date yet to be determined.
B. To help avoid time delays, HSCSW is willing to pay vendors directly.
C. Next NACW conference will be in Chicago, probably in July 2019. Cyd will
share exact details when they become available.
IX. OLD BUSINESS
A. Teen Dating Violence
• Farrah distributed remainder of cell phone safety cards. This was
the last of the CSW's inventory of the cards.
B. Real Women Essay Contest
• RFP has been sent to Finance for approval, awaiting approval from
Finance
• Corporation Counsel Kamelamela has a lead with a radio station in
Hilo that would be willing to have winners read their essays.
• Brooke continues conversations with KNKR 96.1 "Women's Voices"
Radio Show to showcase Essay Contest Winners.
• Decisions about timeline for radio ads and content will be made
once luncheon date has been solidified.
• Essays were distributed to all members present. Essays will be
sent via email to members who were not present. Scores should be
emailed to Farrah by March 15.
C. Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum — No report
D. CSW Brochure — No report
E. Family Services Directory
• Update on distribution
o Kami distributed 50 to Hawaii Community Caregiver network
at Costco health fair
Farrah distributed remainder of Family Services Directories. This
was the last of the CSW's inventory of the 2018 Directories.
Farrah distributed copies of the updated 2019 Family Services
Directory. Changes include deleting Deaf Services and adding in
a section for Human Trafficking.
o Jewel moved to approve 2019 Family Services Directory,
Lee -Ann seconded. Motion carried.
E
• Lee -Ann moved to approve the purchase of 10,000 copies (20
reams, 2 cases) of 11" X 17" size in mint/pastel green, salmon or
coral and not to exceed $500. Kami seconded. Motion carried.
F. Human Trafficking
• Sub -committee did not meet since last meeting
G. Equal Pay
• For the radio ads, Andrew shared that Rick Otani is willing to be
male voice and Jewel is willing to be female voice.
• Committee will solicit quotes from various radio stations and bring
to committee to decide on exact radio stations next month.
X. NEW BUSINESS
a. New Programs + New Projects — None
b. Update CSW Operating Guidelines
i. Tabled discussion to ensure more members were in
attendance.
ADJOURNMENT
Jewel motioned to adjourn the meeting, Lee -Ann seconded. No discussion.
Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 11:13am.
