Dear Ms. Wilkins:
Reference is made to your letter of July 16, 2001 regarding the Tropical Almond tree (Terminalia
Chebula) located by the Mooheau Park Bandstand and the downtown bus terminal.
T'hc property on which the tree grows is owned by the State of Hawaii, but is under the control
and management of the County of k~awaii. Mr, cagy Martin, acting Hawaii District Land Agent,
has initialed the Acceptance Form for Exceptional Tree Status to acknowledge the State's
consent. However, the execution of the Acceptance Fotm should be completed by the County of
Hawaii. Consequently, by copy of this letter, the form has been transmitted to the County
Department of Parks and lecreation for further execution by the County ofHawaii.
With regards to the Chinese 13anyan tree (Ficus refuse) within the Rainbow Falls Area of Wailuku
Rives-.Cate Recreation Area, we will nQt be executing the Acceptance Form for Exceptional 'Trco
Status at this tithe.
Should you have any questions, please call me at 974-.6200.
