County Mass Transit Cancels Some Bus Routes amid Shortage of ADA-
Accessible Vehicles
On Wednesday, January 1, 2020, the County of Hawai‘i Mass Transit Agency
commenced the cancellation of some bus routes due to a shortage of vehicles capable
of providing access to bus riders under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Mass Transit Administrator Brenda Carreira said that the routes which are cancelled
vary from day to day. Today, January 3, 2020, the following routes have been
cancelled:
Waimea AM
Intra Kona 2
Pāhoa 2
Pāhoa 3
Volcano AM

The Mass Transit Agency apologizes for these cancellations and appreciates the
community’s patience as it works to resolve the shortage of vehicles.
