SOLID WASTE SERVICE CLOSURES TODAY, JANUARY 6, 2020:
• Pāhoa Scrap Metal and White Goods
• Hilo White Goods
• Keaʻau Scrap Metal, White Goods, and Greenwaste
Pāhoa Scrap Metal and White Goods. The Pāhoa Transfer Station’s Scrap Metal and
White Goods services are closed today, as they have reached the maximum storage
capacity allowed by the State Department of Health. Services are scheduled to reopen
once permit compliance has been met.
Hilo White Goods. The Hilo Transfer Station’s White Goods service is closed today,
as it has reached the maximum storage capacity allowed by the State Department of
Health. Service is scheduled to reopen once permit compliance has been met.
Keaʻau Scrap Metal, White Goods, and Greenwaste. The Keaʻau Scrap Metal and
White Goods services are closed today, as they have reached the maximum storage
capacity allowed by the State Department of Health. The Keaʻau Greenwaste service is
closed today due to a staffing shortage, and is it scheduled to reopen tomorrow,
January 7, 2020.
Residents are asked to hold on to their material until our sites start accepting these
commodities. The County will continue its ongoing efforts to mitigate the materials on
hand to allow for future acceptance.
