Dear Ms. Rosasco-Mitchell:
Thank you very much for yourletter of October 12, 2019, expressing your
concerns regarding the ongoing situation on Mauna Kea.
I share your deep respect for the Native Hawaiian culture, which is a unique,
shining light for the world. At the same time, I am sworn as the Mayor of Hawaii County
to uphold the rule of law.
As I write this, I continue to seek a good resolution to the impasse on the
mountain, which would lead to the Mauna Kea Access Road completely open to all.
The resolution that I seek is a peaceful one, which would work to heal the wounds of the
past while accommodating the important work of science that is so important to our
Island.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write and thank you for your concern
for our community and the environment.
Aloha,
Harry im6u.v‘A)--•
