May 6, 2019 CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY Date: January 29, 2019 MEDIA UPDATE Time: 10:00 am Frequency: Update #: Incident: Siren Testing on January 30, 2019 This is a Hawaii County Civil Defense siren test message for Thursday, January 29 at 10 in the morning. The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency and the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency, will conduct siren testing on Thursday, January 30, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the following locations: • Carvalho Park in Hilo • Naalehu • Hawaiian Paradise Park at Makuu Drive and 6th Avenue Residents nearby may hear the siren sound for 30 seconds- to 3-minutes, including short blasts known as “burps” during the timeframe. These tests are necessary to ensure these repaired sirens are working properly. Thank you for listening. This is your Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency.
