HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-02-06 Coronavirus UpdateThis is a Civil Defense message. This is a Coronavirus informational update for Thursday, February 6 at 9 in the morning. The Department of Health confirms that there are NO cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) reported in Hawaii. The Department of Health, in partnership with the County of Hawaii, federal, and other state agencies is working to take necessary precautions to prevent and respond to this virus. If the 2019 novel coronavirus is identified in Hawaii, coordinated actions to prevent and mitigate the spread of the virus will be taken. Becoming informed and taking personal responsibility is the best preventive action. The Department of Health urges everyone to; • Wash your hands often and with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. • If no soap is available, use an alcohol -based hand sanitizer. • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. • And, avoid close contact with people who are sick. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention does not currently recommend the use of face masks among the general public.
