This is a Winter Weather Advisory and High Surf Warning update for Monday, February 10, at 2 inthe afternoon. The Winter Weather Advisory continues for the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kee above 8,000 feet. Due to unsafe conditions of snow and ice, State Highways reports Mauna Kea Access Road isclosed etthe 8,OOOfoot level tothe general public. The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Warning for north and west facing shores of Hawaii Island for the districts of Ka'u, Kona, Kohala, Hamakua, Hilo, and Puna until Tuesday. A High Surf Warning means there is a threat to life and property from dangerous surf. Surf is forecast to build through tonight and stay at warning levels through tomorrow. Due tothe High Surf Warning; � Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous. * Beaches may beclosed without notice. At this time, Parks & Recreation and Ocean Safety report the following beach areas are closed due to dangerous surf, • MehukoneVVherf • Kaunaoa Beach at Maunakea Beach Resort • HepuneBeach ocean access • KueBay ocean access • Le`e|oeBeach Park • And, Kehe|uuBeach Park You will be informed of any conditions that may affect your safety.
