This is a Coronavirus-19 informational update for Tuesday, February 18 at 9:00 in the morning. The Department of Health confirms that there are NO cases of Coronavirus-19 reported in Hawaii at this time. As previously reported, the Department of Health continues to gather facts and interview individuals related to the Japanese visitor that was confirmed to have Coronavirus-19. The Department of Health confirms that the individual did not travel to Hawaii Island. Persons having had contact with this individual in Hawaii are being identified and followed up is being coordinated by the Department of Health. The following transportation policies remain in effect: • The U.S. Department of State continues to advise U.S. citizens to not travel to China. • The only individuals allowed into the U.S. from China are U.S. citizens and will undergo a mandatory quarantine. AS A REMINDER: • The Department of Health recommends everyone 6 months or older to get the flu shot. Symptoms of Coronavirus-19 are similar to the flu. Reducing the number of flu cases in the community helps decrease the burden on healthcare providers and facilities, having fewer patients with flu-like symptoms makes it easier to detect persons who might have cononavirus-19 infection. Additionally, your help is needed to prevent rumors about Coronavirus-19. Make sure your information is up-to-date and comes from a credible source.
