Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area Closed Due for Vector Treatment
The Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation announces the Gilbert Kahele
Recreation Area (formerly the Mauna Kea Recreation Area) will be closed Tuesday,
March 3, 2020 from 4:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for vector control operations.
Please plan travel through this area with the knowledge that the public restrooms and
amenities at this park will not be available during this time frame. Thank you for your
understanding as we work to improve the conditions at this park.
