Dear Chair Mizuno, Vice-Chair Kobayashi, and Committee Members:
RE: HCR 177/HR 156 Recognizing and Supporting Ongoing Collaborative
Efforts to Produce a Rural Health Care Delivery Hub Plan to Address the
Physician Shortage and Improve Health Care in Rural Areas
HCR 177 and HR 156 are easy to support. They seek to address a critical
need—our healthcare shortage—at a time when healthcare is uppermost in our minds
and in a place (rural Hawaii) where the shortage is most acute.
If the collaboration described produces the "rural health care delivery hub plan"
envisioned, there will no doubt be a concurrent demand for additional funding to
implement it. Although County resources are limited, I want to assure the players that
we will do our best to be an active member of the coalition that seeks to make the hub a
success.
Respectfully Submitted,
Harry Kim
