CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY <br />MEDIA UPDATE <br />Incident: Coronavirus Update Message <br />This is a Civil Defense message. <br />Date: March 14, 2020 <br />Time:10:30AM <br />Frequency: Every 3 hours <br />Update #: 1 <br />This is a Coronavirus informational update for Saturday, March 14 at 10:30 in the morning. <br />The following are Policy Updates: <br />• President Trump has issued a National Emergency Declaration which will enable needed resources, remove <br />obstacles, and increase testing capacity to battle the coronavirus pandemic affecting the United States. <br />On National Travel Policies: <br />• Before traveling, review Travel Advisories, Alerts, and Notices for worldwide destinations at <br />www.:travel_.statee ov/destination. The State Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention <br />provide specific advice to travelers on their websites. <br />On Department of Health Update: <br />• Department of Health reports no cases of coronavirus on Hawaii Island. <br />• There are 2 new positive coronavirus cases on the island of Kauai which were confirmed late Friday for 2 <br />travelers. All cases are in isolation and under observation on both Oahu and Kauai. <br />The community must come together and take action to prevent the spread of coronavirus to our island. You can <br />make a difference right now by staying informed, following health advisories, and taking action to protect <br />yourself and your family. <br />Update on Cargo Shipping: <br />• There is no shortage of food in Hawaii. The Department of Transportation - Harbors and Matson report that <br />Cargo shipping between the West Coast and interisland are operating as normal. All harbors will remain open to <br />continue the movement of freight. <br />• There is a shortage of santition and cleaning products. This is partly due to hoarding and panic buying. Please <br />continue following general hygiene practices, such as using soap and water when available, to help curb this <br />shortage. <br />The following is a Community Advisory on Keeping Hawaii Safe: <br />• As a reminder, we all need to do our part to keep our Island and 'Ohana (family) safe. Your help is needed to <br />prevent rumors about Coronavirus . Make sure your information is up-to-date and comes from a credible <br />source.
