This is a COVID-19 information update on Tuesday morning, May 5.
On today’s report of COVID-19 the total number of people who tested positive for
Hawaii Island is 74. From this, 63 have been cleared as recovered with the remaining
11 quarantined at home and monitored by the Department of Health. At this date, for
Hawaii Island no one is hospitalized.
For your information, the Food Basket will be conducting a food drop off service today at
the Keaau High School, from 10 this morning till 12 noon. Thank you, Hawaii Food
Basket and the multitude of people and organizations that make this possible. Thank
you, Hawaii County Police and National Guard and the Sheriff’s Department for helping.
The people of Hawaii Island and the State of Hawaii are doing very well in minimizing
the spread and impact of COVID-19. It is so important to follow these policies of
distancing, gatherings, face coverings, cleanliness, and physical and emotional care.
Your help is needed to follow the policies to stop this coronavirus from affecting the
beautiful lifestyle of Hawaii.
