Noda Managing Director Deputy Director County of Hawai‘i DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT 345 Kekūanāoʻa Street, Suite 41 · Hilo, Hawai‘i 96720 Ph: (808) 961-8083 · Fax: (808) 961-8086 Email: cohdem@hawaiicounty.gov NEWS RELEASE Thursday, May 7, 2020 Contact: Gregory Goodale, Solid Waste Division Chief, County of Hawaiʻi Department of Environmental Management (office main line 808-961-8083; Solid Waste Admin 808-961-8270) Greenwaste Service for Residential Users Reopens at Select Locations May 9 Greenwaste service for residential users will be available three days a week at the following locations, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., starting Saturday, May 9: Pahoa Transfer Station: Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays Ke’ei Transfer Station: Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays Waimea Transfer Station: Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays Greenwaste service limits are a maximum of 1 residential load per day, and 5 cubic yards per load. (Five cubic yards is the equivalent of a full-sized pickup truck with an 8- foot bed filled up to the cab.) Users must keep a 6 ft. or greater social distance from each other and facility employees. If a 6 ft. social distance cannot be maintained, all users must wear a cloth face covering. Anyone with symptoms of the COVID-19 virus will be restricted from using the services at these facilities.
