MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday, April 15, 2020

I. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Farrah -Marie Gomes called the meeting to order at 9:35am.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Brooke motioned to approve April 15, 2020 agenda. Mele seconded. Motion carried.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES (February 19, 2020)
Brooke moved to approve February 19, 2020 minutes. Andrew seconded. Motion carried.
V. TREASURER'S REPORT
A. February financials — no financial information received from County.
B. March financials — no financial information received from County.
Action item: Farrah/Andy to request February and March financials from Office of Prosecuting
Attorney.

VIII. REPORTS
A. HSCSW liaison report — no update received.
Action item: Farrah to follow up with Cyd for an update from February HSCSW meeting.
B. FVIC
Minutes from last meeting were sent by email. May 4th is the next meeting.
C. Prosecutors Six Month Program Objectives FY 2019-20
Farrah distributed the report sent to Lee Lord on January 16th, which captures the
objectives at the end of 2019. Our updates are included in `bold' in this report.
IX. OLD BUSINESS
A. Teen Dating Violence
• Update on status — Mele sent the updated cards text to Farrah.
• Vote on program expense — Mele moved to approve up to $250 for print-
ing of approximately 5,000 copies safety cards, matte finish, 241b weight
paper, printed in color on both sides. Kami seconded. Motion carried.
Action item: Farrah to send the order to Lisa.
B. Real Women Essay Contest
• Update on status — All scores received from judges. We have winners in
all categories. We are waiting on a few student winners who did not have
pictures, after which books will be printed. Gift cards were purchased:
$1,000 for student winners, $400 for teachers.
• Vote on program expense — discussion and vote moved to New Business
C. CSW Brochure
• Update on distribution — None distributed recently.
Action item: Farrah to mail some brochures to Kami.
D. Family Services Directory
• Tracking log — update on distribution
UH Hilo students started calling phone numbers on the list. Draft will be ready end
of next week. Farrah will send the update to everyone for review.
• Vote on program expense — Mele moved to approve budget of $750
($250 of which are moved from human trafficking) to print 15,000 copies
of family directories on pastel orange paper. Brooke seconded. Motion
carried.

E. Human Trafficking
• Update on status — No update. Posters still available for distribution.
F. Equal Pay
• Update on status — No update
G. Status of Women Report Sub -Committee Update
• Update on status
Mihaela contacted Gabriella Cabanas at the Hawaii County Human Resources (HR)
department to request County specific statistics. Gabriella retired, and recommended
contacting her successor, Waylen Leopoldino via telephone at 808-961-8361 or
email at Waylen.Leopoldino@hawaiicounty.gov .
Action item: Mihaela to contact Waylen.
X. NEW BUSINESS
A. Girls Who Code — No update.
Action item: Farrah to contact Cyd and find out more information about this program.
B. 2020 Family Services Directory
• Update on status — see IX, D
• Vote on program expense — see IX, D

Kami and Brooke know of new applicants.
Action item: Farrah to reach out to Lisa and ask if there are new applications
D. Approval of 2019-2020 budget adjustments
There are $4,860 remaining funds in this year's budget.
Mihaela moved to purchase $100 -value gift cards (23 cards) from a local grocer
(KTA and/or Island Naturals) for each luncheon student and teacher participant, total
of $2,300. This is in place of the buffet luncheon in lieu of the fact that the luncheon
will not take place this year due to COVID-19. Brooke seconded. Motion carried.
Andrew moved to reallocate $177 from brochures, $385 from equal pay, $500 from
mileage, and create a budget category "COVID-19 response" (account #341) in the
amount of $1,062 to purchase materials to make face masks to be distributed in the
community. Brooke seconded. Motion carried

Andrew moved to reallocate $27 from mileage, $100 from Real Woman Essay, $173
from meals, for a total of $300 to add to the existing $500 in Hawaii Island Women's
Leadership Summit, for a total of $800 to be used for 2020 leadership activities and
events. Brooke seconded. Motion carried.
Action items: Farrah to request purchase of grocery gift cards from Lisa.
XI. ADJOURNMENT
Mihaela moved to adjourn meeting, Brooke seconded. Motion carried. Meeting was
adjourned at 11:38am.
