Subject: General Plan Involving Waipi'o Valley
Aloha,
I am a fourth generation taro farmer in Waipi'o Valley. After reading the General Plan for the Waipi'o and Kukuihaele -
community, I have concerns.This area has been suffering for a long time now with the amount of tourist traffic on a, -
daily basis. Having a scenic lookout at the rim of the valley would only add fuel to that fire. Maybe perhaps instead,you
focus your efforts on detecting the amount of people that visit that area.
Over the years there have been too many close calls on the hill where people who don't know the road, put others in
danger.This plan would also open up more issues littering and other possible crimes.The natural resources in the area
need to be protected and not exploited. We want to protect the integrity of the Valley as much as people.And that
starts from the top on the mountainside down into the valley.
I hope and that you consider these words for this plan would do more harm than good.The community has suffered so
much intrusion as it is, let's not make the problem worse.
