Subject: mud lane development

The idea to make mud lane a through road for traffic to view Waipio valley is a bad;idea:),
for many reasons. I'll name a few. h4.:;
There are already so many cars at the lookout, that the area is constantly congested-"4
and over crowded with people to the point that it is no longer "Hawaii". J
The number of tourist cars going up and down the hill has become dangerous for-- --
everyone because they don't respect the rules and the other drivers on the hill.
There isn't enough funding to truly educate the tourists as to safe practices. More car
and people would not be better.
Tourists also get the idea that the valley is some kind of public park and not the private
property of individuals. If the valley is to remain sacred, which it is, lets not turn it into
a spectacle that people can speed down a hill to "enjoy".
The dangers of such a road are real. I've driven mud lane both up and down. The
safety of creating such a road, going straight up and straight down make no sense.
If people are to go to Waipio, let them drive through Honokaa. It helps support the
town and conveys a sense of place to the area.
