Aloha, to whom it may concern:
It has come to my attention that The General Plan contains this proposal on p. 30:
36. 1.38 Amend Charter to revise land acquisition and preservation regulations and criteria
PONC) to include lands impacted by climate change or those with beneficial attributes for =
climate adaptation and mitigation."
I oppose changing the regulations on how properties are selected for PONC funding. All
properties under consideration are subjected to the PONC prioritization process and
properties affected by climate change should be given the same consideration as other
properties, not special consideration because they may be damaged. We should be
protecting properties that support the healthiest native ecosystems, contain the most
significant cultural resources and offer the most to future generations.
PONC is a highly popular program and the public will not stand for it being weakened or its
funds raided to purchase properties for other purposes.
