Generations of my family: learned life skills, ocean etiquette, and how to just enjoy nature. In looking at the current designations alongat,.-' Mahukona I would have to stand against a resort designation, if it means more development in untouched area; up there. Why the resort designation should be removed from the map: The North Kohala Community Development-- Plan calls for the purchase of four coastal properties, including the land between Mahukona and Kapa'a Parks for public use with the 2% Open Space Fund. Keep Kohala, Kohala! Keep building further south from the Waikoloa shorelines that are already being built on the lava. Kohala is the last accessible local spot on the north coast for us to enjoy. Please remember locals live here, tourists just visit! Would be nice for our county to think of these simpler things in an age where money and power forces change, and lately not for the betterment of our community, but those with deeper pockets.
