Dear Planning Department representatives, t
I am writing to request that resort zoning for Mahukona be
removed from the map. This is an area of great beauty, constant,
community and visitor use and has been a high priority for --
purchase for the past 12 years with the Open Space 2% funds. Our
North Kohala Development plan calls for preserving this coastal
land and maintaining a small town feel. A popular
saying/sentiment among our community members is, "Let's keep
Kohala "Kohala". The Mahukona area has a great many historical
cultural sites which need to be respected and protected with
integrity. Thank you for honoring the wishes of this concerned
community by removing resort designation at Mahukona.
