HomeMy WebLinkAboutINDIVIDUAL COMMENT EMAIL - 128923Mori, Ashley From: Sent: Tuesday, October 29, 2019 11:00 AM To:General Plan Subject: Mahukona Resort Planning aToWhomThisMayConcern, I am writing in regards to the building of a resort on the North Kohala Coast Mahukona to Kapaa,e " I write to you on behalf of my Ohana and I. I'm most certain for many others also. My name is born in Kealakeakua , Kona HI and I am a resident ofNorth Kohala. Here where my mother grew up where her mother and father grew up. Where their parents and their parents grew up. Where I have raised and continue to raise my four children. I am the great granddaughter of Rep. and North Kohala has been and still is our special home nestled in our little town. Safely secluded. It has; But is being diminished, provided us with the essentials of life to make our living possible. It has provided me with food and jobs that made it possible for my husband and I to raise our children. Wr work for a company right here in North Kohala, Hoea Road. It is a family owned company by a "Caucasian" family whom resides on a HUGE lot up on Kaauhuhu homestead!!! Yes you read that correctly, one family, not even a drop of Hawaiian, on Hawaiian homelands!!! But non the less they own the company I work for. That's payed my husband and I barely enough money to pay 2,000 DOLLARS PER MONTH for RENT!! And gas to get to work. For that I am greatful for our job but have total appreciation for the essentials that Kohala'aina and kai provide for us. Natural Resources!! North Kohala residences has preserved there 'aina because it is meant to be preserved. It is the birth place of our Mo'i. It is the homeland of some of our most royal Hawaiian ohanas and we did not want development. The 'aina and kai was able to provide food for my family. We needed and still need these resources. It is the only way my family and I can survive. Work provides money for gas to get there and rent for an "old plantion" house. Not enough for food. We fed and still feed our family through the natural resources that this land ESPECIALLY Mahukona and Kapaa provide. Why I say ESPECIALLY? Because it is one of the last places in Kohala us Ohana get (just a tid bit and with rules/regulations) that we can gather fish or sea food from. EVERYWHERE else, are inaccessible. Including land areas. Sadly though "Planning Commissioners" people with money would never know what that is like. All of this is being taken away. Lost. Stolen. Gated. Closed off. Sold off and traded ALL FOR MONEY IN FOREIGN PLACES. AND FOR SURETY COPORATES AND CHALLON CORPORATES. How can the Kohala Coast be an resort zone?!? There are historic, religious places, areas, landmarks heiaus even buildings right there in front of you. You can even see it now from the Akoni Pule Hwy. With your naked eye!! You see it in plain view. How can you not see the sacredness right in the front of your faces?!? There are so many sacredness throughout this entire Kohala Coast this whole pa'e 'aina and all for money they look with a blind eye. Throughout the years I watch, my children watch our beaches and forests get smaller and smaller. Closed off. And all by rich foreigners. With Million dollar homes. My children and I watch the state sell Coast Gaurd, which by the way was leased land belonging to the Hawaiians stolen by the state. Along with all the sugar cane land which includes Mahukona and Kapaau now "owned by Surety) it is leased land. Hush hush under the table keep quiet and spell Kohala wrong so they can't find the plans that we must provide for them so we can build this resort without the public's say or shall I say the Hawaiians say is the way this whole project seems to be going about things and it absolutely absurd. I could go on and on. I am sure there are steps and regulations rules and laws that are compromised in order to build this resort. I feel the community wants to see that "Kahola Report" or environmental impact assessment. So let's start here... NO MAHUKONA RESORT!!! NO RESORT ZONING IN NORTH KOHALA!!!! 1 128923
