Subject: Remove resort designation for Mahukona in General Plan
Aloha,
There is a very long, documented history of the North Kohala's communty's support for preserving the North
Kohala coast in open space and for public benefit.
The resort zoning at Mahukona is opposed to the community's overwhelming support for preserving this area.
The potential economic benefit ofthis resort will be dollars mostly leaving the community and state, benefiting
a corporation, providing minimal low wage jobs for Kohala, while the economic opportunities of an open coast
line have not even begun to be tapped.
We urge you to remove the resort designation at Mahukona ASAP.
