Please intake to Bethany.D From: Sent: Friday, October 25,2019 6:26 PM w Subject: Hawaii County General Plan- Discovery Harbour I .. After attending a meeting with the County Planning Department which included both Discovery Harbour property owners and community members, the Planning Director stated in order to move forward we need to address the Hawaii County General Plan. The County is requesting community input before finalizing the General Plan. The County Development Plan (CDP) basically"fed" recommendations into the General Plan. The proposed General Plan currently contains a recommended land use zoning for the Discovery Harbour gateway lots of LDU (Low Density Urban allows for 6 dwellings per acre plus a small 7-11 type commercial facility). If we desire the conceptual plan as presented by SPIG to the community(May 2015,copies available),we need to request the County Planning Department change the recommended land use zoning from LDU to MDU (Medium Density Urban) in the Hawaii General Plan. MDU allows for the proposed high-end 40 room lodge, restaurant, etc.which would support renovation of our golf course. The County has on file a list in excess of two hundred and fifty residents in support of these improvements yet the CDP recommended LDU. Issues related to that process are in litigation. The Planning Director stated emails should be addressed to the Planning Department specifically referencing the Hawaii General Plan,TMK(3)9-4-001:020 located in Discovery Harbour. The emails should request the change of the recommended land use zoning from LDU to MDU and a brief narrative stating your reasoning for making the change. The Planning Department must receive these requests before the end of October which puts us under a short time restraint. If you so desire, address your emails to Michael Yee, Hawaii County Planning Director-michael.yee@hawaiicounty.gov Mahalo 0 Virus-free.www.avq.com 128750 1
