My wife and I currently own 8 lots in Discovery Harbour on which we have developed two single family dwellings. We live in one and our children live in the other. We are beginning development of a third single family dwelling for our youngest son and his wife and children. We love it here and hope to live here the rest of our lives. The one thing that is absent from our community is a social structure that includes lodgingforguests,food and restaurants,and improvement ofthe golf course to a functioning level. We request the County Planning Department change the recommended land use zoning from LDU to MDU(Medium Density Urban)in the Hawaii General Plan.MDU allows for the proposed high-end 40 room lodge,restaurant,etc.which would support renovation of our golf course.The Countyhasonfilealistinexcessoftwohundredandfiftyresidentsinsupportoftheseimprovements. We believe the overwhelming majority ofpeople inthiscommunitysupporttheproposeddevelopments. Currently,we drive to Kona or Hilo each week to buy groceries and fill our other social and physical needs. 128 4 We wholehearted endorse the conceptual plan presented by South Point Investment Group. We would like to see the addition of commercial space including construction ofa lodge and restaurant. And we desperately needjobs in Kau. 1 Thank you very much!
