Subject: Discovery Harbour and SPIG

Mr. Michael Yee, Hawaii County Planning Director
I am a full time resident and owner/builder located at in Discovery Harbour. This is my
home I built in 2016. I am also an owner of a separate vacant lot fronting to the golf course in our Discovery
Harbour Community.
Please put on record that I am one of the many, many residents in favor of the conceptual plan as presented
by SPIG to the community in May 2015.
I am requesting that the County Planning Department change the recommended land use zoning from LDU
to MDU (Medium Density Urban) in the Hawaii General Plan. A change to MDU would allow the SPIG
proposed high-end 40 room lodge, restaurant and other improvements. This would allow a much needed SPIG
renovation of our slowly dilapidating golf course. In turn enhancing the lives and values of our community and
surrounding communities. I believe the County has on file a list in excess of two hundred and fifty residents in
support of these improvements yet the CDP made the recommendation of LDU zoning.
Issues related to that process are tied up in what has become a very long term, expensive and confusing
litigation. Which is against the majority of community members wishes.
At the very least is it possible for the Planning Department to hear from the actual residents of our
community rather than the self-fulfilling,jaded and deceptive representatives of a few?Are you aware that
we have voted these deceptive few to be removed from representing us the Discovery Harbour Community?
Mahalo for your time and consideration on this important decision that will have an everlasting effect on
ours and the surrounding communities.
