Aloha,
I am writing to say that I do not support a rezoning of lands in Discovery Harbor to to allow for a resort or other large
scale development to be build in the area. This idea is problematic because it would change the rural character of not'
only Discovery Harbor but also the neighboring communities of Naalehu,Waiohinu, Mark Twain, and South Point. Most r;
people live in Ka'u because they value the rural lifestyle and the relatively low impact that the mass tourism industry'has•"
on this area. Furthermore neither the roads nor the availability of water in Ka`u are adequate to support a large resort'
in Discovery Harbor. I live and drive on the very dangerous roads that feed these subdivisions. They are totally -- . —
inadequate to accommodate resort traffic. The desire to remain a rural community, and the danger to the residents and
families, as well as potential complicity in further fatalities on Kamaoa road specifically, should be given grave
consideration.
